What is the Integrated Code of Ethics & Conduct?

The code of ethics of the International Register for NLP, Coaching and Hypnotherapy (IRNCH) is designed to ensure ethically for members, their clients, the community, environment and the future.

The IRNCH code is written to ensure both the organisation and its members operate professionally, responsibly and within the boundaries of their ability.

The IRNCH code is intended to provide protection to all and especially those vulnerable within our society.

The IRNCH code is governed by 4 overarching principles:

1. Members will always act in the best interests of their clients and students.
2. Respecting privacy and confidentiality
3. Respect all strands of diversity
4. Professionalism, honesty and integrity

Members will:

– Act in the best interests of, and respect the needs and diversity of their clients.
– Respect the privacy and confidentiality of their clients unless given explicit consent to disclose information.
– Respect all strands of diversity through actions, behaviours and words.
– Be honest and professional in all dealings with their clients or students.
– Provide students and clients with accurate and up to date information.
– Only provide, promote and engage in delivering training, coaching, therapy in which they are trained in and within their, qualifications, scope of practice and ability.
– Act ethically, professionally and responsibly in all dealings with other members, other professional bodies and institutions as well as their clients.
– Always act to improve the flexibility and opportunities of their clients or students.
– Represent their services as complementary to, and not a replacement for, the medical system. Members should encourage clients to seek medical advice when necessary and avoid making claims that their services can replace traditional medical treatment.
– Ensure that where appropriate, individuals should be signposted to a relevant registered medical practitioner.
– Respect the different approaches used by other members
– Ensure that clients and students are provided with clear expectations and that any contractual arrangements are adhered to (unless mutual consent is achieved).
– Always act within the law.
– Ensure clients and students have a clear and easily accessible complaints procedure in relation to training, therapy or coaching activities offered.
– Disclose to the IRNCH any criminal convictions, any complaints received against them of a professional nature and anything that may affect their standing within the IRNCH.
– Commit to continue their professional and personal development and take active steps to refresh and further their knowledge of at least 20 hours per calendar year and will provide evidence of Continuing Professional Development to the IRNCH if requested to do so.
– Only work with children or vulnerable individuals if they are specifically qualified to do so.

Members who violate any of the code of conduct may be subject to investigation should a complaint be received by The International Register of NLP, Coaching and Hypnosis.
