Unlike other organisations, the IRNCH was created and is run by people who are passionate about and are experts in the fields of NLP, Hypnotherapy and Coaching.
We are here to elevate the standards and quality of Practitioners and Trainers in these unregulated industries so that members of the public have confidence and trust that they are receiving a professional service which is client centred and driven by ethical standards, honesty, and integrity.

NLP, Hypnotherapy and Coaching fall under the term of ‘Complementary Approaches’ which means that they fall outside of the scope of mainstream healthcare. They can be used together with conventional healthcare and are therefore considered ‘Complementary’.

The practice of ‘mainstream medicine’ is regulated by laws that ensure practitioners are properly qualified and adhere to certain standards, which is called statutory professional regulation.

Complementary approaches fall outside of this scope and there is no compulsory statutory professional regulation.

This means that it is legal for anyone to practice complimentary approaches even if they have no, or limited, formal qualifications or experience. Practitioners and Trainers are not legally required to adhere to any standards of practice or to join any association or registers. It therefore relies on self-regulation and that is where the IRNCH steps in with our trusted system of membership levels of Certification and Accreditation.

This has been a persistent problem within the unregulated industries of NLP, Hypnotherapy and Coaching, and a potential minefield for members of the public, with lots of training providers, practitioners and membership organisations confusing the two terms sometimes deliberately for their own means and other times through ignorance of the difference.

Here at the IRNCH we believe in transparency, honesty, and leadership through professional principles, so we are establishing a difference in these terms for you, right now.

Certification and Accreditation are both terms connected with achieving a certain standard, but they differ in terms of purpose.

Certification typically refers to a process where an individual, company or organisation is evaluated against a predetermined standard and is often achieved through training, education, or assessment. The assessment is usually only to the standard of the assessing company or organisation, and if achieved, they award the individual or organisation with their certificate. This certificate may not be recognised by anyone other than the certifying company or organisation. Certification usually means that a standard of knowledge has been achieved.

Accreditation, on the other hand, is a formal recognition process in which an individual program, or organisation is evaluated by an accrediting body against established standards to determine if it meets certain quality and performance criteria. Once Accredited there will be periodic reviews and assessments to ensure ongoing compliance with accreditation standards, and accreditation status may be used to signal trustworthiness, reliability, and accountability to others such as clients, and regulatory agencies.

Gaining Certification can be seen as being a starting point for an NLP Practitioner, a Coach, a Hypnotherapist, or a Trainer. Giving them the knowledge to start to practice.

Gaining Accreditation can be seen as having been assessed for a ‘licence of fitness to practice’ and a commitment to standards and continued professional development.

There are lots of areas of crossover however consider the following points.

A coach is someone who will help others reach their goals. An NLP practitioner and hypnotherapist will help others; change their behaviour, though patterns, access their unconscious mind to make positive changes.

You should look at each of the following to ensure that the individual you are planning to work with:

  • Has the appropriate education, qualifications and training for their field of practice.
  • Has sufficient experience to provide you with a quality of service.
  • Has a method of working that suits you. Some may be very direct in approach and others may be more gentle.
  • Has appropriate delivery method and availability.
  • Charges a rate you can afford.

The below is an indication (it is not an exhaustive list) of how you may benefit from working with different professionals, some individuals may offer more than one service.

Many professionals are able to assist with all of the below.

Coaches can help you to:

  • Identify your goals: Coaches can help you to clarify your goals and make sure that they are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.

Cost will vary from professional to professional.  It may vary according to qualification, experience, availability and location (online / physical).  What matters here is that the professional is the right professional for you.

Sometimes working with a coach, NLP Practitioner or hypnotherapist can make things feel less good to start with.  With the right professional this will pass quickly and progress will be seen as a result of the effort you put in.

The answer to this is simple.  None of the processes used by coaches, NLP practitioners or hypnotherapists are going to do anything to you.  They will work with you to make changes.  To make changes you must be ready and make the effort.

Changes will happen as quickly as you work for them to happen.
